Americans speak out on books

A few quotes from famous American authors in honour of ‘I love to Read Month’… Manitoba.

“That is a good book it seems to me, which is opened with expectation and closed with profit.” Louisa May Alcott (1832 – 1888) was an American author best known for the novels Little Women, Little Men and Jo’s Boys.

“I cannot live without books.” – Thomas Jefferson (1743 –1826) was an American Founding Father, the author of the Declaration of Independence and the 3rd president of the United States from 1801–1809.

“I guess there are never enough books.” John Steinbeck (A John Steinbeck Encyclopedia)  (1902 –1968) was an American writer most famous for The Grapes of Wrath, East of Eden and Of Mice and Men. He received the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1962.
