It is Mardi Gras season…..and this is hardly New Orleans. It snowed again last night and we are expecting more tomorrow. It is piled high on the rooftops….but the skies are brighter and milder weather is on its way…. soon before we know it we’ll be livin ‘On the sunny side of the street’ once more. So…..
“Grab your coat and get your hat/leave your worries on the doorstep/life can be so sweet/on the sunny side of the street.” – Dorothy Fields & Jimmy McHugh.
Louis Armstrong (1901 –1971), nicknamed Satchmo or Pops, was an American jazz trumpeter and singer from New Orleans, Louisiana. ‘On the sunny side of the street’ is just one of many amazing songs he recorded. Mardi Gras season, says Wikipedia, “refers to events of the Carnival celebrations, beginning on or after Epiphany and culminating on the day before Ash Wednesday.”
