“The real world is not easy to live in. It is rough; it is slippery. Without the most clear-eyed adjustments we fall and get crushed.” Clarence Day (1874 – 1935) was an American author. He joined the New York Stock Exchange and became a partner in his father’s Wall Street firm. He then enlisted in the Navy in 1898, but developed severe arthritis and spent the rest of his life as a semi-invalid.
